Pool – a Sport for All People
Pool is fast becoming one of the most popular sports in the Western world – and with good reason. Most sports rely on athletic prowess to allow yo to succeed, asking you jump higher, hit harder or run faster than another man or woman. Unfortunately there are only a certain number of people who have the physical attributes to reach the highest levels.
Pool defies that, it is a game for all shapes and sizes, and can be enjoyed by almost anyone – and mastered by almost anyone, despite their body shape. Not being able to run 100 metres in under 10 seconds won't make a difference to your ability to pot a ball in the pool table pockets.
Because that is what pool is all about – putting the balls into the pool table pockets using a cue, and a cue ball. No special sporting talented needed there at all. What is important is to be tall enough to reach the pool table and strong enough to be able to wield a cue, other than that it can all be learned.
Of course there are still limitations based on ability – as with any sport. To be able to be sure of getting the ball in the pool table pockets you still need decent hand to eye co-ordination (to a degree) and to be able to judge a gap. But all we are talking about here is basic spacial awareness – something that by far the majority of people are born with.
All the other skills by be learned – and the more you are willing to learn the sport of pool the better you will become at putting the balls in the pool table pockets, and so the better you will be at winning games!
